I have a 2002 Jetta TDI, 231K miles, with the infamous 01M automatc tranny that I replaced last year due to transmission cooler causing coolant to seep into the transmission, which ruined it. Along with coolant in tranny, there was tranny fluid in the coolant in the engine.
I have been monitoring transmission temperature on the replacement transmission, using an ELM327 bluetooth gizmo and using the Torque app on my android phone. Yesterday it stayed around 200 degrees, but while stopped with AC going it appriached 225.
What is the normal safe temperature? I am running synthetic fluid.
