I have been wrestling with this problem for the last 2 months. Originally started with BLACK smoke when changing gears. I scanned the car & found the turbo was spooling up to 25 lbs fine. I checked the vacuum hoses & found a hole in the one going the variable vane. I replaced it & the smoke & power returned. I still have a bit of black smoke when shifting from first. I also have a screaming sound which I know is a vacuum leak somewhere else. I replaced the head in Februray & everything was fine. I have replaced the turbo solenoid a while ago & it cut back on the smoke too. I seen a solenoid with a cream coloured cap that looks like it intakes air as well. Sorry i'll take a picture of it next time. Any ideas? Thanks
