head gasket

I sure I will catch some grief but I going to ask any way . I got the alh hot and I assume I blew a head gasket or warped the head. At any rate I pulled the head and sent it to a machine shop to be surfaced and checked out. Ordered the parts I think I will need to do the job. I never installed a head gasket on a alh . Do I install the gasket dry or do any one use a sealer like high tack or what ever on it to help seal . I going to use new head bolts and torque it proper I just want to get it together and not leak water or deal up pressure in the radiator . Thanks for any advice
