In the last 3 weeks (one today and on vacation...yay!) I have had 2 water pumps seize, one with 67k miles and the other 87k miles. Both from 100k mile kits. Both purchased in 2001, but in different months and from different, highly respected on here, vendors.
Fortunately, I was able to stop the car both times before the TB let go, so an early TB job is the worst of it except the inconvenience and concern about reliability.
Is this perhaps just bad luck, a bad batch of water pumps or does it call into question the validity of 100k mile TB kits? No good having a 100k mile belt if the others parts don't go that far.
