I see a lot of talk about this, and how to tell when the car is doing a regen, but what is it? Can't find that in a search.
Every once in a while, I'll get a faint diesel smell while driving. Just lasts a few seconds and it's gone. I'm assuming that's regen, but what purpose does it serve?
