Turn signal clicking

I recently started getting a random clicking from the hazard button, so I searched for a cause and found that the relay was most likely bad. I bought this new one and installed yesterday only to find the clicking still happening.

I did some more research and found this guide on cleaning the signal contacts, but it's for a Jetta. Are the steps the same for my 05 Passat? Anyone know of the "wd40 trick"?
