Just have to rant a hot minute. YEARs ago my dad started a hunt club with some of his friends. It started off well, they put food plots on our land and all the neighbors that would allow it, had a horn limit, and kill limit of less than the state requirements, all in an effort to grow bigger deer. Wellll, the members got older, couldn't follow rules, felt they didn't have to, and to avoid causing hardness amongst friends, it became a free for all. Let the food plots go unmaintained, kill whatever you please, all you want. Fast forward a few years and myself, along with my siblings and several of our friends have taken renewed interest in deer management, redoing most of the plots, correctly, and trying to manage the way "professionals" suggest. Here lies the problem. There are several members of the club that remain just because they've been here a long time, and any time we have a meeting and I try to bring up some sort of limit, I get shot down by this older half that maintain, "I don't have the time to hunt like you do, (which is complete horse****, I work 2nd shift) so I shouldn't be forced to wait on a big deer"
So we go through the same thing every year, guys come up to hunt, spend a week or 3 days, and let 30 deer pass them by then shoot a 2 1/2yr old 8 pt that might score 70. And I always get the same answer when I asked why they picked that deer, "It had a big body" and "Its gonna eat good" BULLCHIT I don't care if you really do only have 2 days in an entire yr you can hunt and that's the only animal that crosses your path. I'm glad you saw one, but don't try to act like there's no other chances when you tell me you saw 10 a day. And my dad is just as bad, he did the same thing 2 days ago.
Anyone else have experience with this or is my best option to wait them out until the majority is on my side. I feel they'll collapse in the next few years :soap:
