That's me, a day late and $1,000 short. Two years later and this is the first I have heard of this. When did this offer expire. Reports said nearly 500,000 were eligible but only 120,000 took advantage of it. I bet I know why. They never knew about it.

BHW Valve Cover Removal-Stuck

I want to pull the valve cover to get a look at my cam because the engine seems to be running just a little bit rough. I've read the DIY's and know that it's tricky to do on this engine without removing the intake manifold but this seems harder than I think it should be.

What is the trick to getting this out? Can't lift up because of the manifold. The myturbodiesel DIY says that you can't rotate it axially but then which way do you rotate it to clear the head without hitting the manifold? In the pics the front has cleared the camshaft pulley (barely, but cleared).

JSW Buy Back

Damn, I just did the buy back calculator on our #2 Jetta, 2013 JSW. I thought I did pretty well turning in my 2010 for nearly twice its NADA value. I had no intention of turning in this low mileage perfect JSW but damn. They make it hard to resist. I bought the car for 18k three years ago and their buyback calculator says the buyback price is 25k.

I get emotionally attached to cars and letting my 2010 go back was gut wrenching even though it had 305,000 on the odometer. Letting the JSW go is going to just as hard. How many people are keeping these cars in spite of the ridiculous offers from VW?

Window washer hose in firewall leak?

When I hear firewall I think of back of Engine! Is it along wheel well? They want $144 to Repair. If I could do it? Find out were and how it would be great.

Recurring relay 109 problem?

Is this even possible?
Last summer my '01 Jetta (wife's car actually) had what I believed to be a failed/intermittently failing 109 relay. I swapped it out for a known good one.
I'm working out of town until next week and have the VCDS with me so can't scan for codes.
She called me yesterday and described what sounds like a bad 109 to me. No GP light, car just cranks away. Eventually after a few tries the GP light came on when she put the key in the "on" position, and the car fired right up.
I find it odd to go through a couple of these relays in succession like this, especially after driving one of these cars for 10+ years w/o one going bad. What else could be going on?

I may have just bought my first 2015 Golf TDI...

So, I have always loved the 2015 Golf's ever since they came out. Attractive, fun to drive and mostly affordable all while yielding excellent fuel economy. Then dieselgate went down and 2015 was the only year of that model you could buy and those I found started sky rocketing in price.

Meanwhile a few trips to Europe I rented 3 different TDI Golfs of those newer body styles. I fell back in love and really wanted one but whenever I would look for one I could never find them or I would find the one A-hole out there that wanted $8,000 more than the car cost new even though his was used with 30k on the clock.

Well today I found a 2015 Blue 6-speed Golf TDI that was beautiful. It literally was everything I wanted (minus the fact I wanted cloth and this was leather). It has 100k on the odometer but it is in near perfect condition both inside and out, and I got what I thought was a good deal on it. $14,100. I just put the down payment on it and have a few weeks to get my loan paperwork worked out.

I would like to get a Malone tune on it after I get it. I want it to last so I don't need to go crazy, but I have a long commute to work and am looking more for better MPG out of it.

I currently have a 2001 ALH Golf TDI. I'll be putting it for sale soon. It runs good but just has too many small issues for me to keep putting money into so after I found the deal I did on the newer one, it was enough for me to come to terms with parting ways with my beloved ALH.
