I picked up my latest TDI about a month ago for a steal at $250 because the original owner left a nut off in the wheel well area and the turbo piping uncoupled. I put it back together and for the most part it runs pretty well. The issue I'm having is a lack of power from full stop. If the a/c is on it will even stall(I'll press the fuel pedal and the idle drops to 500rpm for a few seconds followed by stall). Without the a/c it seems to substantially lack power for about 3 to 5 seconds then the engine picks up and has a reasonable amount of power. I've checked all the piping and swapped the maf with my other 05. No change.
From the research I've done I'm leaning towards turbo vanes.. I wanted to reach out and ask if anyone here might agree. If so, what's the easiest way to clean the vanes?
