Just bought this TDI, im new to the tdi engines so im slowly reading everything i can. I have an obd2 scanner but the port is like relocated or something its not in the factory spot.
Previous owner put a bigger turbo on it not sure exactly how nice it is i tried searching the numbers with no luck, i just know its a garret gt17 not sure how different that is from a vnt 17. has bigger i/c piping. Full 3 inch stainless exhaust, supposedly bigger nozzles. One concern of mine is previous owner had a stage 3 or 4 malone tune then reverted back to stock when he sold it so not sure how bad thats messing with it right now. Was also told it had a southbend clutch. I see it had EGR deleted but not quite sure whats going on with the vacuum lines.
Main question for now is the blue smoke, the thing runs good starts up well and has an abrupt shake turning it on and off like you want in a diesel. Blowby seems normal and nothing crazy im feeling with dipstick removed. No crazy noises. Curious if pump timing, injector issue or lack of a tune could do this? you feel it slight miss at certain rpms but its subtle i feel it most around 3k which is when alot of smoke comes out. When driving it also seems like the turbo builds boost very late.
