I do use a cheap obd 2 on my car and i use the torque app for a while now. My car supports warm-up cycles from codes cleared but it can be reset ed any time i want even w/o codes .
I did notice that although the app site says that a warm-up count is considered when have a raise of 22 C or more of coolant and be at 60 C at least ,is not actually work like that . A lot times i did started from 25 C for ex. but the count is activated other times at 62 C or at 75 C !! ( both values are random it can happen at 63 or at 68 etc etc but never at same temp. as torque says...) .
Now i think somehow the oil temp. is involved at that .I mean not always the oil is warm when the coolant is at 70 C so the ECU counts both coolant and oil temp. for add one more count at warm-up cycle .
So the quality of oil ( thicker,thinner,better...) play an important role at this? Is a better quality oil takes longer to get hot?Can this be an "cheap" indicator for when the oil is at end of life if the warm-up count adds at lower temp. than higher ?
Thanks in advance .
