So recently I had noticed a drone sound when I start driving near Hwy speeds, thinking its one of my wheel bearings I own a 2004 Jetta Wagon. I don't have the tool to remove and reinstall the wheel bearing but my work does have a press I could use. problem is I don't have a second car to use so I could remove the spindle from my car press out and in the new bearing. I was thinking of picking up a scrap spindle for a wreaker, removing the old bearing cleaning up the spindle and then pressing in the new bearing. Are the spindles the same for a Golf, Jetta, and Passat diesel and gassers in the way of steering geometry or should I just stick with the same make and year as my car.
