I have a 2002 Jetta TDI 5 speed, 252k, I picked up a few months ago. Previous owner had a new turbo(stock), egr and vacume pump replaced at a reputable shop. Looks like they replaced alot of The vacume line as well. The timing belt is a few years old, 40k ago. All the filters looked new when I bought it. Untill know the car ran awesome @ 48-50mpg.
On this morning's drive the car was sluggish from the start and not running like it's normal self. I usually cruise at 80 mph at about half throttle. Today I had floor it to get it up to speed and just could barely do that. Acceleration is slow and I couldn't pass, if I had too.
It seems to have power mid range, if I ask much more of it it feels like it falls on its face, just hits a wall.
I don't have a boost gauge installed yet, but it feels boost related.
The brakes / emergency brake are not sticking, no low tires, no other obvious cause
No smoke, no MIL, No other problems. Brakes worked fine, doesn't feel like a loss of vacume.
Any common failures I should look at first? I'm not sure where to start to isolate the problem.
Thanks!
