Dropping off vehicle before actual turn in appointment date

I'm not sure if this has been asked .. But here goes.. Has anyone who is turning in there TDI, left it with the dealer before the actual day of there appointment where they're supposed to complete the paper work and get there cheque/EFT.
I've come across a very clean ore-owned vehicle and will be purchasing it, but would like to drop off my 2015 Passat at the dealership before my August 4, appointment date. I would keep insurance on the car but will be removing the plates. Has any one done this or do you think dealer would give me a hard time ?
