VNT Actuator died...thanks to all the info here

mercredi 7 juin 2017

I was able to diagnose and correct the issue with no problems...although that actuator can be a real pain to change on the car! HA!

Since the DLC764's went in the car a couple of months ago, I've really been enjoying my 90 mile a day commute....until about 3 weeks ago. I'd changed all the vacuum lines, everything went great, car ran great etc...about a week later the car started getting weaker, and smoking more on accel....as well as mileage taking a nose dive from 47 to 38....hmmm...rechecked all the lines and check valve...everything seemed good to go...

The situation deteriorated over the next couple of weeks and I finally had to make the time to look at it. In the meantime I ordered an N75 from Kerma...just in case. I finally was able to dodge the local rain storms Sunday and get under the car, pulled the belly pan, disconnected the actuator, put the mighty-vac on it...sure enough, zero vacuum on the actuator. I removed the actuator and tested it again...no joy...vanes moved freely stop to stop....I wired them in the middle until the Garrett actuator I ordered came in.

I got under the car after the rain stopped this morning and replaced and adjusted the actuator...the little red Jet is back up and zipping along...blew a lot of crap out of the exhaust for the first few miles, but back to full boost, and just a slight haze on accel.

So thanks to all of you that have had boost issues over the years and posting all of your troubleshooting and corrections...the N75 will stay in the tool box, and the New Bosch MAF can go back to the store....
