Driver's (left) mirrors are flat in the North America. I wanted to get a wide-angle mirror on the driver's side (left side of the car in N.A.), similar to the wide-angle mirrors on the passenger's side (right side in N.A.). My car is a 2002 VW Jetta Wagon. This is not listed in UK parts books. Only a 2005(?) and newer Jetta is listed. That mirror was my first attempt and it will not fit, tried it. The mirror below does fit.
I ordered a left-hand (passenger's) replacement mirror from UK Amazon (http://ift.tt/2s0U5k5)for a "1997-2005 For Volkswagen Golf mk4 1997-2005 Passenger left hand side wing door mirror convex glass heated with backing plate" "By Sylgab" who is evidently a major supplier in the UK. See them a lot on Amazon. It is sold by europartsdealer. (I had a mirror delivered for my wife's BMW from Euro Auto Parts Express and they sent the wrong part) europartsdealer shop is in Truro, Cornwall. A beautiful part of the world if you are ever in Cornwall. Cost 10 Sterling or about $13. Since they are not expensive I bought 2 incase I should break or loose one in an acccident.
Be careful. They sell in Europe mirrors which have a blue tint. The blue one by Sylgab for my wife's BMW was very very blue. Much more than the slight blue tint the original one had. The one I ordered for my VW was without blue tint like the original ones. You could by accident order a blue mirror for your VW. Or order both sides if you want to change colors?
They will not deliver to the USA so I had it delivered to a friend and picked it up on my next business trip.
Fit well. I taped the edge of the housing & popped out the old mirror with a plastic tool.
Pressed the plastic backing plate firmly onto the back of the new mirror since they did not press it on well at the factory. Once pressed on it sticks well.
Snapped in the new mirror.
Now NO Blind Spot - Why can't we get this from the factory.
Tried to post a couple of photos but could not find out how to do it in the post new thread window.
