Okay, guys, I need some help.'
2001 NB TDI, 5-speed.
181k miles, did a TB Job, just finished. Engine starts fine.
Coolant Temp Sensor (G62)
DTC 1256 Open or short to plus - intermittent
The DTC was there before I did the TB job along with a few other DTCs. I did a scan before jumping into the TB job. According to VCDS, the Temp never showed above 34.2c.
I did replace the CTS (coolant temp sensor) with a new green one with stamped numbers, etc., from my stash. The CTS I removed was green with no numbers stamped on it.
So, according to VCDS, the temp will not go above 30.4c with a long idle and revving. Even though it starts just fine, it's not possible to set the timing correctly. The timing shows 70 and fuel temp at 108 but also says engine not warm enough. The timing is right up against the top line in the graph ... well advanced!
Now, what the heck is going on with the coolant temp circuit(s)?
Thoughts?
