So I have been chasing a idle haze issue for awhile (in gear at a stop) and tried just about everything, had the truck re timed recently after I tried doing it by popping the gear and rolling the engine back method........ So yesterday I swapped out my .024 delivery valves for a set of stock 181's hazing problem solved but when I pulled the delivery valve holder from #1 on the pump I found that the compression pin was upside down so it was actually resting on top of the delivery valve, as you can see from the cutaway picture the spring should be on top of the delivery v/v and the compression pin facing towards the top of the holder. So my question is what if any effect would this have had on operation i.e. smoke? I'm not sure if I screwed it up a couple years ago when I installed the delivery v/v's or if it was the shop that set my timing either way it doesn't matter I'm Just trying to see if that was the cause of my idle haze or any other effects searched online but couldn't seem to find much. Truck ran great and pulled hard just smoked more than I like or thought it should have.
