Oil out of front breather

Okay guys every time I get up in the RPMs my truck blows oil out of the front breather. I know this is due to the p pump returning oil. I have tried the breather off the industrial motor with the baffling with no luck. I am thinking about using the block Off cap on a third GEN. Looking for opinions and other options. Cold Piping build questions

Picked up a new set of compounds, HTT 364/480, and the "cold piping" that came with it is just a big silicon boot that transitions from the 4" off the secondary to the 3" at the S480. I'm going to be building actual tubing using v-bands and I'm curious if it's normal to see a 3" opening at the S480? I'd like to use 3.5 or 4" tubing for the cold piping, but to neck down to 3" from 4" sounds like a waste.




27' Longhorn Gooseneck trailer

want to turn up my work truck a little.

Well to start off im.new to this site I figured I would join for information and maybe find some good deals on parts.



Ok so I have a 2002 cummins 6spd 4x4 3500 dully flat bed. Its my DD but I use it alot for hauling. I own a landscaping company as a side business so at times I pull a 24ft gooseneck with a 10k lbs track loader. I have had the track loader and a small John deere traitor on there in the past so I pull fairly heavy loads. I don't pull like this everyday but I do it alot in the summer.



Ok so I have an ejwa on my truck 4" straight pipe bd exhaust break. And an afe air filter. I now have new bosch injectors with 130 tips waiting to go in the truck. I also went to put a 62mm turbo on the truck. I plan to head stud it and run 50ish psi boost my concerns are the egts when pulling. Whats the best way to keep them in check? Im thinking water meth injection. What do you guys think?



I also plan to do 5" exhaust and maybe get rid of the exhaust break because im not so sure it helps the egts any. I think its pretty restrictive even when not in use. Is this possible?



And yes I know my clutch won't hold all these mods thats on the list too.



my main goal is 450-550hp I want it to be good reliable useable horse power so I can pull but I want to have a little fun when theres no trailer aswell

The Baby Truck

I have been kicking around the idea of a new project and the wife and I may be leaving the US in a year. So I figured it may be time to judge interest/sell the Baby Truck. This thing has been an ongoing project for some time and things will be added to it before it sell I’m sure. It has been an extremely fun truck that started out as a 2500 sclb and the frame was chopped 16ish inches rewelded along with some 1/2in plate and now is a scsb. As far as price goes, I’m going to start out at $26,000 but don’t be afraid to offer me less. I would entertain trades in the sports car/newer 4x4 truck/gold bars/ cocaine/ jeep/ another awesome project. I have done 95% of the work to the truck myself which may be good or bad LOL now to the details.

remote mounted front pump for auto trans

Once ago in a far away land LOL I heard about removing the front pump from front of 47/48 trans and using a hyd pump driven off front of engine to operate trans. I have heard about this being done in some rally car setups.seems like this would open up a whole new world for input shafts. The thread I was reading about doing this the guy had it done but was having trouble with fluid pressure I was wondering If he was still on comp D did he get it figured out.

Has anyone here ever done their own hardlines? I pulled mine today to find out that they're beyond repair.



I thought I'd just buy a set online but they're $400-700 for a set? wtf?



Anyway, I can find S/S hardline for about $10/ft which is much more palatable. But what is the flare type at the line ends?



Are there any common mistakes I should look out for?

Use older Dana 60 hubs on later Dana60, to rid unit bearings?

Can one use older Dodge Dana 60 hubs, or stubs, or ??, on a later Dana 60, ('96) to eliminate the unit bearings, and gain lockout hubs?

My eyes are starting to bleed from searching.

I know there's a Ford swap, just having a little trouble finding those.

question on twins

I am thinking about putting twins on my truck. I have a 66/74/12cm. I would like to run that i am thinking about with a s480 or 475. I am wondering would i want 110 exhaust housings on them? I have done a lot of searching threads. I am going to wastegate the 66 i have a 45 from when it was on my 6.0. Is that big enough for the twins?



My other option is a diverter valve for my 70 which i know would help a lot. But i do some towing. Any help is greatly apreciated

In a previous thread you mentioned how quick this cam spools turbos, but that it got soft above 2500 RPM's, but that a newer LSA fixed that problem. Can you elaborate on that statement?



I'm doing a rebuild on the motor in the truck in my sig, and making some changes. The 64 is getting changed for a 62, the 5x18's for 16's. I'm thinking this cam might be a good match. The cam I have would require flycuts, and shortblock is already assembled. Looking for quick spool as this truck will be a fun to drive street truck/tow rig for a Jeep. Not a DD, won't see over 3500 RPM's very often, but will see 3500 often.

(bearings, seals, gaskets, heads redone,water pump,etc, etc) stock turbo, ARP Head Studs, brand new (not reman) 35% over modified bosch lbz cp3 pump, Air Dog 150 lift pump, Low mile-tested injectors from St. Joseph Diesel. Truck should be in the 550-575 rwhp range with current tuning.Trans has been fully built using brand new Alto Red Eagle clutches,(stock clutch count), stock steels, transgo shift kit, DPC billet triple disc torque converter, new gaskets and seals, etc. Also, autometer boost gauge and pyrometer gauges mounted on the pillar, and Curt Class 5 extreme duty reciever hitch mounted more forward for looks and better sled pulling geometry. Turbo issues

I have a 2006 f 350 just replaced the turbo with a new Garrett factory replacement and am not building any boos I have checked all of my boots as well as my up and down pipe clamps for leaks any suggestions




Trans issue

I just got finished doing head gaskets on my lly and as I was pulling truck out of the shop the Trans went into limp mode. I scanned it an pulled a p0872 code. Open circuit. I dropped pan ohmed the solenoid and found I have a open circuit for the e-shift solenoid wire. Anyone Ever come across this issue? I'm going to start tracing wires back now looking for a bad connection or broken wire. Any Info would be greatly appreciated thanks

2000 47re in 98 12valve

Been doing some research to see if a 2000 47re would fit in a 98 12valve, seen on DTR that we can either swap the sensor for OD to work or put an inline 1000 resistor for the trans temp to work properly. Wondering if there's anything else that should be done in regards to line pressure and other things? Any info would be very much appreciated. Thanks

Hey guys, new to the forums and looking to learn about other diesels outside of powerstrokes. My current truck is a 08 F350 cclb dually with the normal tuner, intake, exhaust. It's lowered and I'm working on the cosmetics because it was a Texas work truck before I got it. Really looking to learn about 12v Cummins with plans of building a rat rod dually with one in it. Put my VP on a dyno yesterday...

Hey everyone, well like the title I said, I put my 98 VP with nv4500 on a dyno yesterday and put down 551rwhp and just under 1100 torque. Now I've heard that between 15 and 17% hp is lost in the drivetrain with a manual tranny. So that would put my engine hp at around 630. Do my numbers sound reasonable to anyone? Are they too high or too low? I really have nothing to base them one. Any input would be great, thanks guys

idles fine, white smoke when given fuel

my dads 06 will start and idle just fine, when you give it fuel it runs rough wont really gain much rpm and smokes (white smoke) like someone set a pile of leaves on fire. my little matco scanner shows me 2 codes p0101 and p0102 both suggesting bad mass air flow sensor. ill try cleaning it but would those codes keep the charger from working

? seems like the charger is not working. was wondering if any of you guys could help me out with this as I don't have much experience with the dmax. thanks




differences in converter stall speeds

Today I swapped out my 2300 stall converter for one that is supposed to be 17-1800 stall. Now my question is, how much of a difference should I notice just driving around? I went for a short test drive and it was almost exactly the same as before, maybe it is the same, it's hard to compare when you know something is changed. Am I expecting too much, or is there only going to be a difference in numbers on a track? It seems to me 5-600 rpm lower stall should have been a huge difference but maybe not.

Making more power on 7x12 injectors

Hello all! Mods are in my signature. I've heard that the VE pump doesn't put out adequate pressure to properly atomize the fuel at higher rpms for 7x12s as is right now I'm at 20 degrees of timing, which puts me at 30 degrees for total advance. If I was to run an M&H timing spacer (which allows roughly 10 degrees more advance of dynamic timing) would this help burn the fuel longer and makeup for the poor atomization, thus making more power? Or am I barking up the wrong tree here?




Stumped

I am working on a 01 that we pulled the engine out to reseal, stud and put a small set of twins on. Tried fire it today and couldn't get the fuel pump to run, it has a Raptor pump on it. So I took it out cleaned the motor that was slightly dirty from brush dust hooked it up to the battery with jumper wires and a 10 amp fuse and it worked just fine, so I reinstalled to the truck wiring and it makes a little noise then the relay clicks. So I stole a relay from a different spot and it didn't make a difference, so I ohmed the power wire back to the relay and it had minimal resistance. If I understand this the ECM controls the pump via the ground, is there any good way to check ground through the ECM? I think the ECM might be fried, when they were hooking up the cables at the fuse box one of the guys helping took the small ground wire from the battery cable and tried to hook it to the alternator feed thus destroying the ECM in my opinion. Any help would be great.

Help with injector nozzle ID

Up until now, I thought I had new era 435's which are 5x.014. I bought them from a member a few years back. I noticed they actually have 6 holes. I know they flow ALOT more than stock so I never questioned them. The weird thing to me is that the nozzles have one hole that is smaller than the rest. So, 5 big holes and 1 small. The injector bodies all have different part numbers and the filters have been removed. The number on the nozzles is dsla 145 p 265. They make great power but I am going with some different injectors and plan to sell these. I just don't want to list them as 435's if that's not what they are. I've had these injectors since 2008.




Hx 52 exhaust housing

I am thinking about buying a Hx 52 because they are cheap and I know they can be laggy because of the larger exhaust housing, and I have a exhaust housing off of a BD super B special that was junk but the housing was still good, they are both 71mm turbine wheels. Is it possible to swap the BD special housing on to the HX 52?? That way I would have a t3 housing that would hopefully spool a lot better. What do you guys think?

I've had a boost fooler on my truck for years didn't even think about till someone told me it wasn't needed. Will that mess with the program? Is that why I have smoke issues? Does Smarty do the boost fooling?

really silly question.... hate to even ask!

Is there any certain way to tell if the push rods are all the way down in the lifters without pulling the cover? Put the head on, and everything else on the side of the engine before putting the push rods in . Have a couple with tension on them and I can't for the life of me remember how they were when it came apart. Should there be a gap in all of them with the valve lash adjusters backed all the way off? At tdc I have a couple that are still compressing the valves. Sounds like a silly question, but rather know now, than find out the hard way! :nail:




looking to convert my 2500 to a dually

I have a 02 2500 6 speed Dana 80 with disc brakes. I wanna convert to a dually and a 96" by 9ft long flat bed. Do I need to change my rear hubs or can I just bolt the dual wheels on? And will I need to change the front spindle or just bolt the dually rotor and spacer on?




Opinion to buy or not. 06 with 300,000 miles

I am asking this for a friend of mine that is looking at purchasing a truck. Truck is a 2006 ccsb slt with a 6 speed manual and has 300,000 miles and 6800 hours. Truck looks very clean for the mileage inside and out. Just a touch of rust starting around the top of the rear wheel wells. Truck is a Pennsylvania truck so im sure the underside has some rust present.



Dealer just took in the truck and is asking $12,500 for it.



Would appreciate opinions of everyone weather this is a good buy at this price or not. He has also mentioned that he would like to get about another 100,000 out of it without too many problems if purchased. I am not sure if Items like clutch and injectors are stock or have been replaced since it is a dealer trade in.

2004 Fummins, 12valve, zf6 ,manual t case

Well thinking bout selling my Fummins only cause I want go build a dually.



I pulled the 12 valve out of this and sold it and I have a common rail I was about to install, and I stumbled across this dually so that's where my prob started lol.

Truck stalled and would not start again. Had the truck sold so I just changed out the pump. It now has stock gov springs and 181 dvs. It does not have a fuel plate. 450 plus the ride.

I've seen a lot of exhaust manifolds with cast in mounts for waste gates. What is the purpose of these? When would it be needed? What would you want to set them at? What size and how do you figure that out? I've seen sizes from 30 to 60!

While on the subject what's with the pop off valve on the intake side does this help save the turbo on full to no pedal? How do you figure size and set up?




S480 80/83/1.10 t4

I have an s480 (80/83/1.10) that I'm wanting to trade for a 75/83/.90, 75/87/1.0, or even something with a 92mm exhaust wheel may work. Looking for something to try as a big single on a 12v. Let me know what you have.



The turbo is one originally from ED that my cousin ran as a single on his duramax. The turbo has no cracks and is in good shape. The compressor wheel touched the housing ever so slightly but not nearly enough to constitute replacing it. The turbo will come freshly rebuilt with an upgraded 360* thrust bearing. It also has a 3.0 bushing in it. I'm not sure if it's technically a "race cover" or not but I'll post some pics up here for you guys to see.

Rail Pressure Box ???'s

So Im trying to decide which way to go to control my rail pressure.....And Im kind of Piggy Backing off D45's post.



Here are my current options:

Diablo Power Puck



Smarty



Now I haven't tinkered with the Smarty on the rail Pressure side of things, just mainly fuel. I like the Power puck being that it comes with the Diablo Dial and its about the only thing that can be tuned on the fly. Problem is with that, is one of the connectors is a bit corroded and is quite finicky. And after contacting Diablo, their only answer is just to buy another puck....



Im not a huge fan of the TST. I ran one on a twined Mega with just twins and it was..... kinda rough on it. Granted Im running 2 pumps, big sticks and Good sized twins. So it might be a different story.



And I haven't messed with the Smarty to see what it will do.



I have all three, so which is the best? Its a daily driver, but I want to add some RP to give it a bit more get up and go. Plus the truck likes a bit of RP to keep it happy




Trade?

I have a quadzilla adrenilan with the map sensor adapter and data link adapter to make it work on a 2001 dodge. As far as i know its the stock tune, i havent changed it anyways, but im looking for either an edge comp. or a tst comp. or will trade for outher box's. This box is very smooth and doesnt surge like most quadzilla's id prefure to trade to a tst. And if this isnt in the correct forum will some one please move it to the correct one. Thanks!

Ok the truck has been fine untill about a week ago. It started starting hard and thats when i noticed the wait to start light and the lift p

ump not coming on when i turn the key forward.

I. Checked battery voltage and grounds.

And when i unhook both batteries the problem goes away for a day or so.

Built cummins vs built duramax

Have this on another forum also, a guy with a 2008 built megacab wants to race me. He has a built trans, built motor by industrial injection, 76mm silver bullet, 250hp injectors, valve springs, pushrods, 95% over cp3. Sitting in 35's I believe. He payed industrial 15k to build the motor and that's all he knows what's done to it. Doesn't know internals but. Sending him tunes today and they said it will do 900hp. No nitrous. Then there is me. 2005 ccsb (7200lbs) built trans, built motor, Danville 72mm, dual cp3's, 80 over injectors, stock heads, .54 pill for nitrous if I need it. I'm sitting on nitto 420's. Who do y'all think will win!?

Finally getting started! Street truck build!

Hey guys, I am fairly new to the cummins and acquired my first last fall. A 98 2wd RCLB. The truck is a stripped down work truck and needed some love but only had 93K on the clock when I bought it. Goal was to build a truck that was reliable, comfortable, and fun (mustang/camaro killer).



First things first, I started fixing some of the comforts. I replaced some vacuum fittings to get the cruise control working and the vents blowing. Tinted the windows to keep the sun out.


Next up was replacing the evap core, heater core, and the cracked dash.





I had to have some tunes so I installed a cd player.


I drove the truck through the winter, researching as much as I could in my free time. BigBlue's junker drag truck was very inspiring and I would love to have half of his knowledge and skill to build my truck. Now that warm weather is finally approaching, I am itching to start building some power out of it! I ordered a KDP fix kit, a pyro, boost, and trans temp gauge, 4 inch exhaust, and a BHAF .

Im trying to find the wheel base rule for 2.6 and 3.0 in the pro pulling league rules but I cant seem to find it now. Correct me if im wrong but rear wheels cant be no wider then 102?




Change your H2O separator

Do it frequently. This is what I found the last check I did. Changed it and the Cat filter instantly. Attachment 50181. The pick up tube for the AD150 was pretty bad as well. Attachment 50182. That was after I cleaned it up. Pitted it up pretty bad.

Hey guys need some help with this.



I have a 85 GMC 3/4 4x4 that I'm building slowly. I have a 12V that I'm going to put in it once it's built. Going to build the 12V to be around 900hp.



So here is my question! I have a full float 14 bolt SRW axle in the truck with 4.10 and a Detroit in it. Will this axle hold up to this motor or do I need a dana 80? Has anyone ran a 14 bolt in a tuck with that much power? I know in the off-road world that 14 bolt is the way to go, but new to the whole pulling world. Truck will be driven on the road and to sled pull a bit.

47 re stuck in limp mode. Help!!

Hello all. I recently purchased a 99 4x4 auto regular cab with 106k miles. I was very hesitant on buying an auto but I couldn't pass up the deal. I drove it twice before I bought it, no issues. Only mods were Edge EZ 65 horse programmer and straight exhaust. The trans was supposedly built 1000 miles ago to withstand 600 hp.... No receipts. Anyways the truck ran great all the way home ( 35 miles ). Next day it would start out in 3rd gear. I could manually shift it into 1st and 2nd and up to third but it would not shift to 4th nor overdrive. I started with the fluid, it was past the full line by an inch or so. After searching the internet and asking certified mechanics about my issue I started with the speed sensor on the drivers side of the transmission. No dice. Then I dropped the pan and replaced the governor pressure solenoid and the governor pressure solenoid. Still nothing changed. So I dropped the pan a second time and replaced the overdrive solenoid alon with the lockout solenoid. Nothing!!! I used DEX MERC as advised by my transmission shop. Also the pan had nothing out of the ordinary lying in it. I dropped the truck off at a reputable diesel mechanic last week and he hasn't really had time to look into the trans. I'm getting the truck back tomorrow because he's going on vacation for a week. Only thing he found so far was when in Drive ( D ), the pressure was at 50 psi! I'm stumped and quite bummed. Any and all ideas would be appreciated. I'm borrowing a scan tool tomorrow to see if any codes are poppin up, I have no CEL on at the moment. I know this is a long write up but my situation seems different than anyone else's. Thanks!




Diehl Straight Line Rip Saw

I have a Diehl table saw. Not sure if its a ESL 20 or 25. I'll find out for sure once I get the serial number off of it tomorrow. It is a heavy duty commercial saw. It has 2 3 phase motors and the arbor is 10hp. I'm not sure if anyone on here would even have a use for it, but I figured I would put it out there. If there is no interest, it may be sold back to Diehl as they have shown an interest, but have not received a price from them yet. New, this machine retails for over 27k. Not sure what its worth to someone, so I'll start at $8k. Or make an offer.

Core P7100 pump

Hey guys I have a p pump for sale as a core the rack is stuck, also the piece that connects the throttle linkage to the rack broke, but I do have one to replace it. I was going to use the pump to make a 13mm pump, but going a completely different route and going back to stock. It is a 887 pump. Exhaust Flange to fit a t4 .90

Like title says does anyone have an exhaust flange that fits the t4 .90 housing with a 4" outlet? Let me know what you have.

I found what is likely the last Clarion DRZ9255 that was brand new in the box on the planet. They stopped making them in 2008 and this is one of the last ones....the plastic had never been opened until today when I got it.

This is the last piece of the puzzle in my bid for world domination in MECA Street class this year.

im from ohio, ive got a 98 eclb chevy with a cummins in it, 4x4 with ifs suspention, 6 inch lift 3 inch body, the engine is a first gen non e.c. i got the shied ve injection pump, 175hp injectors, gt 42 charger. ive always got cummins parts for sale or to trade. looking forward to hearing from you guys




01 auto transmission ground problem

I have an 01 2500 Cummins with an ATS stage 1 transmission. I have had problems for about a year now with the torque converter not staying locked up and continuously kicking in and out like it is slipping. I have done my best to diagnose the problem and i think that i may have narrowed it down to be a ground problem, since it seems to stop for a week or so every time i clean the ground that is attached to the block. i eventually after cleaning this grounding spot several times decided to replace the entire ground cable and that seemed to fix the problem for about 3 weeks and then it was back to the same old stuff. i do not know where to go from here and was hoping that someone may know some sort of solution any ideas would be appreciated. thanks




5.9 cr fca

I have a "new" FCA for a 5.9 CR . I bought it from Rocky Mountain Cummins roughly two year ago and ran it for maybe 3-5 miles before figuring out that the FCA wasn't my problem. Since then its been sitting in a locker in my shop taking up space since their is no returns on electronics. $40 shipped
