Voltage problems and interference through speakers

samedi 17 mai 2014

Hi guys/girls

I have a 98 quad cab 12V and I am having a really hard time figuring this out. Last weekend i was driving along and my volts spiked, then my Airbag light came on. couldn't figure out why it mad the airbag light come on, my volts stayed like that for about a half hour and then they dropped off to about 12V i got home and checked with my volt meter and it was only charging @ 11.5 V

I thought right away that maybe i fried the VR in the pcm . I have 2 external VR on the shelf that are new so i wired one in. still charged at 11.5V so i swapped out the alternator with another one i had, and he charged at 14-15 V. i took the original alternator in to have it rebuilt and it took out all the bearings.

Yesterday i put the original ( now rebuilt ) Alternator back in. Also at the same time i installed Infinity 6x9 speakers in the doors, When i fired up the truck for the first time everything is now charging at 15V , i then noticed through my speakers a really bad whinning (interference) sound and it changes with RPM, makes a high pitch.

I switched back to the other alternator that i had on the shelf and it still make the sound, i swapped out the external VR with the other one i had and still the same, i also hooked up and re wired another 98 PCM i have from my other 98 12v and its still doing it. i checked all my grounds, i tried the factory deck and still making the whinning sound, im going to pull the speakers out today again and put the old ones back in to see if its the new speakers

has anyone had issues like this before i am at a loss and need a little advice

thanks
