Abnormal tire wear

The very outside edges of my front tires have worn almost bald in the last few weeks. What could cause them to wear like that? Rest of the tread is fine.



I can twist the tie rod fairly easily (which seems too loose to me), and the link between the hubs also if I really put some effort into it. The ball joints still seem solid.
