Questions on G56 swap

samedi 4 octobre 2014

I'm going from a 47RE to a G56 in a 1997 Dodge and I have a few questions I was hoping to get some help with.

First - The G56 doesn't have mounts for the old 94-97 style transfer case linkage. Someone mentioned to me that 98-02 is the only way to go and it mounts to the body. However I'm wondering if the 94-97 shifter hole is too big for the 98-02 style to mount. Might have to fab something up that bolts to the G56 case...? Can anyone measure the hole in a 98-02 for me? Maybe post a few pictures of how that linkage bolts up and works? It seems the 271 has a different 4WD pattern than mine as well.

Second - I was told I need the mounting plate for the hydraulics on the firewall, does anyone have a Mopar part number for that? The hydraulics I have are Valair aftermarket. Has anyone heard of a clutch pedal that has a threaded adjustment built it? I keep hearing about one but can't dig anything up on it.

Third - I have 271 [29 spline] and 241DHD [23 spline] transfer cases in the garage. I might have to use the 241DHD and change the input because my speedo reads off the tail shaft. The 271 looks like it's got stronger components and I'd prefer to use it, maybe find a rear end with a tone ring to signal the speedo. Has anyone went from a tailshaft speedo to a tone ring style?

Thanks.
