P-pumped 466 in a 1460 Combine

Hey guys. My uncle has a 466 out of a truck that he rebuilt as a back up engine for his 1460 combine. The engine was an engine out if an international truck with a pull cable shut off. He put an electronic shutoff solenoid on it with 3 wires, a black, white and a red wire. He can get the engine to start, run and shut off. However the solenoid gets very very hot. It started to melt the boot on the solenoid.



Any help with this would be great!
