It killed the cat..

Curiosity, that is.

Anyways, I have been reading all of the "budget builds" on here, and have noticed that there aren't many 4wd trucks. Is this for the weight savings, less expense, simplicity, or all of the above?

I ask because I have a stock 97 RCLB auto 4x4 that I picked up for CHEAP, and I've finally decided to throw a few dollars into it.

I got it for cheap because the previous owner was having issues shifting (3-4, I figured it was the governor), wouldn't move at all when I got it. Turns out it was a busted cooler line keeping pressure from building up (my best guess).

I replaced the lines, it shifts pretty good, I may need a new TV cable.

I'm pretty sure I'm running on borrowed time as I'm sure it has been HOT and slipped quite a bit at the hands of the P/O, so I have an extra trans taking up space in a buddy's garage.

The only thing is it is a 2wd 47rh. So the question is, is it gonna be cheaper (and possibly faster) in the long run to build up the rh and make my truck a 2wd, or would I be better off running what I've got?

I'm sure there is more that plays into it, but I felt like I was just rambling..
