About to start my manual to auto swap. got some wiring questions.

dimanche 24 août 2014

Hoping to start my swap in the next few days. I plan on taking the trans from my 2000 and putting it in my 01 and vice versa. Swapping in the manual seems pretty easy, plenty of writeups etc. But havent seen alot on swapping in an auto so im a little puzzled.

I decided to go with a floor shifter so I wouldn't have to deal with switching steering columns and the hole in the floor etc.

As for the majority of the swap, I feel pretty confident, ive had my fair share of these transmissions out. But ive never swapped one before so im at a loss when it comes to the wiring. Its hard to find a straight answer on what I need to swap over. ecm? Pcm ? Both? I would think just swapping the ecms would give me problems since the one is a 00 and the other is an 01. Or would I just have to find a smarty and a recovery file? Could there possibly be any more problems due to the year difference?*

Also read something about the wiring harnesses, does that need to go as well? And which one is it? The one that goes across the cowl?

Last question for now, I want to mate my DHD to the 47re, since I have both T/Cs, will both inputs swap straight across or will I have to buy different ones? Couldn't really find anything that gave me a straight answer.

Sorry for all the questions, I just wanna get a heads up on some of this stuff to make things easier down the road. Thanks in advance.

Eric
