smarty me question

Hi guys,, haven't been around for awhile. But I am in the process of deleting the dpf on my 2012, I have a smarty and I also have the smarty me file loaded on my S67. My question is this, isn't their and option to turn off the DPF, or does it just happen automatically? AND, if this is the case, I would imagine that I can not drive the truck with the ME files installed until I actually get the dpf off of there?
