3rd Gen Brake system/ more pressure to the rear?

So I have not been able to find anything on the 3rd gen ABS / proportioning valve setups. I am needing more braking force on the rear brakes for holding the truck on boost. It is a 04.5 2wd.



I have upgraded the pads to EBC yellow stuff and that helped hold up to about 15psi on the street tires and roughly up to 18 psi with the slicks on a well prepped track. Due to running slicks I am limited in caliper upgrade options. So I got to thinking about the factory pressure reducing between the front and rear. Keeping this a street legal truck I can not just delete the ABS system for inspections purposes.



The question is has anyone done anything to improve this on the factory rear brake system? Is the proportioning done at the ABS module?



I am currently kicking around the idea of T'ing off the MC output with a 1/4 turn ball valve on both T points then running a bypass line around the ABS module with an adjustable reducing valve in line and taping back into the original brake line. Essentially being able to bypass the ABS and adjust rear brake system pressure my self for at the track.



Input, Experience, criticism, or thoughts?




05 2500 build

So I have a 05 dodge that I built the engine in about 6500 miles ago. Figured I broke it in enough and was time to start throwing some fuel and air it's way! Engine is basic build. 12v rods 03/04 Pistons 300hp injectors, still has the stock cp3 and stock valve springs, head and cam lol I want to see what it can do each time I change somthing. Figured I might as well build the last setup for a while and fine tune it in. The turbos are a billet k31 with a .90 t4 housing and the big guy is a custom hx83 billet titanium 100mm with the smallest exhaust housing I could get for cheap. I think it's 28cm. Running one precision 46mm gate on the manifold dumping into the hot pipe. We finished it up last night and went for a test run and blew the intercooler at 1/2 throttle and 60psi. It was coming on really strong! Here are some pics.

tired of the solenoid leaning toward a cable

Alright guys. I'm DONE fighting with this (choose your expletive) fuel shut off solenoid. It's wired right, got good batteries with good charge, but none of them are lasting much more than six months.



Question is, what are y'all using for a manual cable shutoff? Is it as simple as getting a generic choke cable from the parts store? Is there one specifically made for this? Any help is appreciated.




06 manual lumbar broke

Was cranking on the lumbar knob the other day on the drivers seat and heard a pop and lost the lumbar support. It broke the little plastic piece inside that the metal rod runs through that moves the support. Called dealer and they can only get the adjuster knob or the whole seat back. Wondering if anyone else experienced this problem and where they found parts. Thanks!




Wheel joint help

There's a loud clanking while driving in the front of my dads 1995 3500 cummins. We figured out it was the axle joints. I got the brake caliper the wheel spacer and the big nut In front of the rotor off whats next?? I can't seem to get the rotor or anything else to come loose

2015 ram 2500 auto level air bags

Well I bit the bullet on a new 2015 mega cab black edition Laramie. It has the auto level air bags in the rear. It has to ride height settings. Normal and alternate trailer height. On normal setting it has the rake to it. With the Alt setting it levels the truck. Is there any way to make the normal mode be the leveled off setting? Basically swap the two air bag pressures and mode settings. Just curious if it can be done. It will stay in the alt mode start after start until I swap modes again. It just has this annoying display on my cluster when it's in this mode. Any info would help

DieselSite High Output HPOP

Just thought I'd let y'all know the DieselSite High Output hpop for the 6.0 (mine's the '03 one) does in fact work quite well. Chris at TSD has been handling my truck and the hpop has maintained 4.8V across the board with Warren 285/150 CONVENTIONAL injectors. Very happy with it. :D

1994 12 vlave tuning help and ideas

i put a 160 hp cummins in a old chevy, right now the mods are 7 x 10 injectors, 3k governor springs, hx40 with batmo wheel, and i completely removed fuel plate, the truck smokes alot, to much for me, i dont have a rpm gauge in the truck yet so cant tell ya that stuff, it seems the turbo starts spooling up almost to late, how can i clear out the smoke a bit and get turbo spooling quicker??

the truck is lifted on 35" tires with 373 gear ratio, and has a 450hp south bend clutch

6.0 no boost and exhaust leak

I'm posting this for a buddie of mine. He has a 05 6.0 he just replaced head gaskets and did a egr delete. After he got it all back together we fired the truck up and noticed a exsaust leak by the y pipe also his turbo is not building boost. Any ideas ? I'm wondering if the exsaust leak is causing the issue also the truck has a edge programmer

Heads up, diesel fuel testing

You can contact Rick or RJ for more details but here's the basics:



There are no plans to routinely test fuel; however if your truck really calls attention to itself, and/or someone protests you, this is what will be done.



2 styrofoam cups stacked together

Fill with fuel

5 minutes duration



Both cups should remain intact and be separable without falling apart.



Note, commecially available cetane boost applied at very heavy rates (more than recommended) ate right through the cups.



While this is not PhD level high science, the point was made, everyone can check your own fuel in your own shop to know whether or not you are at risk. So check yo self befo' yo wreck yo self!



Fuel samples will be taken as close to the pump as possible. If you have multiple tanks / lines, then they will sample them all.

injector help

I was told they are brand new 100hp injectors installed lest then 1k miles ago. The nozzles are pretty soothed up and the only number on them are 854. Can anyone tell me what they are by that number?

I have a set of 100% over LB7 injectors. I ran them for 8,000 miles. pulled my engine apart again to go bigger and do twins so im gonna go larger injectors. They were pulled apart, cleaned, checked, tested and balanced then boxed up. 0 miles since being gone through Done where I work at Daves Diesel in Angola Indiana.

Fass Install routing help urgent

Guys I am stuck on my fass install I took it to a shop and they ruined the whole thing I would like to know how the routing is once you have to tee the lines /i see the ofv has a hard steel line and goes into a rubber hose. Why should we avoid using Remanufacturered Injectors?

Why should we avoid using remanufactured injectors?







Lets scrutinize the examples of higher mileage injectors that are sent in for remanufacture!







What do we normally find in examples of old used injectors?







Particle contamination causing:







- 1. Wear at the nozzle guidance causing leakage, a higher friction between nozzle needle and nozzle body, bad starting performance and reduced injection quantity at lower rail pressures.







- 2. Abrasive wear at the valve seat causing leakage (bad starting performance and higher injection quantity) and leakage is causing a later pressure build up to close the nozzle needle.

3. Wear at the valve piston (similar failure consequences as a worn nozzle guidance).







Fuel deposits causing a sticking armature group.







Water contamination causing corrosion with the result of sticking armature group or cracks of a valve piece or injector body caused by corrosion marks making the material weak.







Extruded high pressure sealing ring (only on injectors with manufacturing date 2003-2005)







Cracked injector body because of higher than standard rail pressure.











The reason to not use remanufactured injectors is simple, because only failed parts and the nozzle get replaced when the injector gets repaired. All other parts of the injector will remain. So a reman injector has wear already on its internal parts and will never reach the same running time or will it function like a new injector. (that is in the case of using a Bosch reman injector with the number 0986xxxxxx)







We have examined thousands of sets of injectors which were destined for remanufacturing. Very often there were injector sets with a single remanufactured injector in it which was primarily the one in the set which didn´t work anymore.







Evidence shows that most companies attempting to remanufacture CR injectors appear to not have the knowledge to remanufacture injectors properly. They are trying to finish the sealing surfaces between the nozzle and the injector body. These surfaces originally have a concave shape which they wrongly remove. That also effects the nozzle needle lift by the material they remove in the grinding process and they do not adjust it afterwards. Very often the armature lift gets no adjustment or they simply get dirt into the injector…. and so on. The list of issues caused by these remanufacturers is long.

Or has anyone tried retrofitting an after market chevy item... Ive ran several different electronic pump setups and all have last a few years then **** the bed...



Tired of having have a spare in the glove box as these$300 pumps arnt lasting or worth the headache anymore.

Wife bought a 2012 Jetta TDI need some info

So the wife finally got shed of her 04 tahoe and bought herself a 12 Tdi Jetta. Now I am wondering if anybody makes deletes for these yet as I havent been able to find any. I dont cate about making power as much as getting even better mileage. Right now it is around 40ish intown. I would really like to see just how good it could get since it will be used to as our riding car since my Dodge gets 14mpg and my 6.0 gets 14.5mpg. Any help is appreciated!

4x4 posi lock

Anybody have any problems with the posi lok cable system? I'm having problems with their cable, it doesn't have enough detent. I can be on a free coast and it disengage itself,yesterday it did it so hard I now have a bent fork and bent cable end..



They aren't trying to do anything to warranty the cable for me. Telling me that my axle is bent. The only reason I switched to the cable was 2 low, the vacuum system worked just fine Before. The shafts are good and the splines are great, collar is also fine.I have chucked the shafts in a lathe to check run out, they are good.



I think the problem with they're cable is it doesnt have enough detent, oh and the customer service is kinda ****tay.I'm really against a perm lock or solid shafts because of fuel mileage. I really wish I could just order the cable end and make my own damn cable but they won't sell individual pieces of the cable.



I notice where the cable is pressed into the rod it wasn't square to begin with, again can warranty it because I used it.



Can anyone source this cable end?

J'ai pris connaissance des problèmes des interclassement chez MySQL et le fait qu'il est impossible d'avoir un interclassement totalement fiable en Français et qu'à cause de ca MySQL ne peut être utilisé par le gouvernement..


J'aimerais savoir comment s'en sort PostgreSQL par rapport aux interclassement, est qu'il y a des avantages pour mon futur site français - anglais - un petit peu d'arabe de passer à PostgreSQL? A part bien sûr le fait que MySQL appartient à Oracle et qu'il a des côté obscur (modules non open source etc..).


Ce qui m’intéresse ce sont juste les fonctionnalité de base. se connecter à la bdd, créer une table ou une entrée chercher une entrée, trier, afficher, supprimer. Le but étant de ne pas avoir de problème d'évolutivité et d'éviter la migration d'un type de base de donnée à un autre et de garder un code le plus simple et le plus basique possible pour éviter de me perdre.

Opinions 12V vs p pumped 24V

Ok yall I need some advice/opinions. Im looking at starting a project truck in the near future. Im going to be doing a restomod and want to throw a Cummins into it. Id prefer to keep it mechanical so I dont have to mess with the computers and dont have to transplant the gauge cluster. Im stuck between a 12V and a p-pumped 24V. So what are your thoughts?



Im a Ford guy so I dont have too much knowledge on Cummins, but have been talking with some friends about it and getting pushed towards the p pumped 24v. My end goal is a 600ish hp, but i want it clean for when im cruising around. I will probably put it on the strip every now and then too.

Ive been runnin MOOG for the past few years, and every year i replace them. My truck see's everything for 24hr road trips from B.C to Manitoba, thousands of miles on gravel chasing my Rig, gets taken up every crap forest road within 4hrs ofmy house during hunting season.



Every year i have to replace balljoints, tierods and quite often have to find a knuckle or two if i leave it for two long.



Im looking into dyna trac balljoints, and custom made tierods with EMF joints...





Any ideas or suggestions boys?!?:Cheer::Cheer:

Can a vp44 have too high of pressure

I had my vp44 replaced and I was having issues like the truck would have a hiccup chug and crow hop like crazy then the damn thing would die. All pressures were great! So we change the vp44 with another and came to the decision it was the ecm... now with the new ecm we are having the same damn thing. I called the place where I bought the vp 44 and they said my pressures were too high and that's why I'm having the issues I am. It seems possible for they are saying the pressure being too high is causing the pump to jump off timing and once I let it set and the pressure drops it will run fine is this possible anyone ever hear of this?

Exhaust vibration and rough idle? Ideas

Hello, I have an 05 cummins and it has been giving a puff of white smoke on start up every once in awhile, will run a little rough for a second or two and then clear up and is fine. The idle always sounds like it has sort of a tick to me. But recently I have noticed there is a lot of high speed vibration moving the entire exhuast you can see it from the downpipe to the tip, along with the trans dipstick when idleing. I know its a diesel but I believe there is an issue with it and I am not sure where to start any ideas would sure be appreciated. Thanks

I'm thinking about doing a 2.5" lift soon to smooth up the ride a little and to give my truck a little more aggressive stance. Has anyone here done this? I'm looking at the skyjackers as they seem to be the most reputable and I hear they smooth the ride out some which IMO is

Wanting to buy a TDI

I'm looking to buy a TDI, and I'd like to get some feedback on them. I'm leaning towards a 2005-2009 Jetta, preferably with a manual transmission. What kind of things should I look for when buying one? What kind of mileage range should I be looking at? I want to find one 120,000 miles or less, but I don't really know how many miles they go. I drive 160 miles a day for work, and I don't want to put that many miles on my truck and the fuel bill is getting outrageous. A VW TDI seems like a logical choice for that task.

Any insight is much appreciated.

friends 00 has hard start in the cold

First off I don't know a whole lot about a powerstroke. he has a 2000 7.3 when it's below like 40* his truck won't start unless it's been plugged in for a couple hours. The injectors are relatively new I'm not sure on the brand or exact mileage. He replaced a return line, glow plug relay, and tested thay the glow plugs are working. Neither of us have a scan tool that will read the icp or the oil psi to see if it's just a sensor or something. There is no smoke when it's cranking. I told him to get to a Ford dealer and have them check the fuel and high psi oil pump. Not really anything else to do without some sort of scan tool right?




Compound Questions

I'm getting ready to install my compounds on my 12v but had a few questions. I'm running a "side by side" setup with a 63/68 over a s488 on a Steed Speed manifold with a JGS 40mm wastegate.



For the boost line which goes to the wastegate, I was originally going to weld a bung into the intercooler pipe right off the s300 but now that I have my s300 in my hands; the compressor housing is already tapped for a reference. Does it matter if I get a boost reference for the gate at the comp housing or the IC pipe? I wouldn't think it would matter since it goes through a regulator but since I've never used and external gate before I just wanted to check.



While on the subject of using an external gate. Do I need to run some kind of flexible bellow between the gate and the hot pipe? I was planning on it but the distance is so short that by the time I put the bellow on the hot pipe is already turning back to the front of the truck.



Lastly sin,ce I'm using a 3rd gen comp cover does anyone make a IC pipe from the turbo to the intercooler? I don't have any problems fabricating my own piping if not. I'm just strapped for time at the moment with school and finishing our FSAE car that the less time I have to build my own piping the better.

03 5.9 to 6.7

I have a 2003 that is in need of a rebuild. I stumbled across a complete 6.7 out of a 2008 for a good deal, cheaper than I can rebuild the 5.9.

I have been doing a lot of reading on the swap and it seems the only way to go is to use the 03 injectors. I would really like to utilize the he351ve turbo as this truck is going to pull a 5th wheel.

Has anybody been able to use the 6.7 ecm with the 03 PCM ?

Or should I just use the original 5.9 electronics and build a set of compounds with exhaust brake and forget about the vgt turbo?

I live at altitude and the only single turbo that seems to be worth anything for towing is the vgt units.

Arp 2000 and 0 rings please advise

Well it's time for new injectors sooner than I thought and I only want to do them once so I'm going to go with 100% overs. With that being said I am going to be running a stock/s475 twin kit and a Hamilton 188/220 cam and I will need to go over the head before I make any of these modifications. The plan is to have the head checked, decked and o-rings along with oversized high nickel valve seats pressed in along with valve springs. My question is will the normal arp 2000 head studs be sufficient for my build considering I'm going to be running o rings? I wanted to run the a1 h11 studs but they are currently on back order. Any input is appreciated.

2001 engine wire harness

I'm afraid I have a bad wire harness anybody have a good one or know where I can find one?

Anyone have a lead on a regular cab for a '93? Located in Illinois, but can travel some.




Stuck cross over tubes

I pulled the 85 HP injectors and put in the 125 HP injectors with thinner sealing washer and new cross over tubes. Couldn't get them to seal up and engine ran like crap. So I decided to just put in the stock sealing washers. Can't get two of the cross over tubes to come out to pull the injectors. Tried just lifting the injectors, and tried pulling on the tubes with two small screw drivers with no luck.



Any suggestions? Swapped out injectors many times with out issues.



Do they make a tool if needed? Stumped, went together easily. I was told that sometimes it's difficult to get the tubes to seal with the thinner washers. I was trying to help out a slight smoke issue by lowering the injectors more into the piston bowls.




Front sway bar - worth the weight?

In the never ending analysis of all things race related, I have come to question the usefulness of my front swaybar in a 1/4 mile drag race. I have also been thinking about installing one in the rear as well. My thoughts are that I should keep the front one and add one to the rear.



Any thoughts on the matter?

Intercooler re-core upgrade

Hey guys, let's talk intercooler since I am well over due for a new intercooler. Mine leaks bad at where the tubes meets the lower part of passenger side tank near where the inlet is located. Lot of my boosted air get lost as soon as it enters the intercooler. I need this to be fixed so I can actually tune my pre-boost fueling. Right now it lights at 1500rpm. Anything below it'll never get above 10psi of boost.



I went to my local radiator shop which also do intercoolers to see if they can fix my intercooler. Unfortunately they said anytime the leak is at where the core meets the tank the only right way to fix it are either a full replacement or re-core. While I was there I asked what it'll cost to re-core with the upgraded tubes. They said it'll be around $750 to re-core my stock intercooler with the upgraded tubes as seen in the second pics.



What you see in the pics below, I can really tell the upgraded ones will offer much much better airflow, cools efficiently, will NOT balloons at extreme pressure, and there will be nothing like stock's "stuffed" tubes' stuffings to get bundled up toward the driver side of the intercooler from flowing bunch of CFM. Also not only that, having the stock intercooler re-cored means it'll be a 100% drop in replacement/upgrade, no piping or boots changes, trimming or whatever. I am sketchy about that ebay special intercooler ($550-ish?), and the good name brands are almost twice what the radiator shop will charge to re core my intercooler.



My truck is generally stock wise, but I fully plan on to grow via more fuel and air (turbo or turbos). I daily drive, haul, road trips, tows with my truck, then lastly play, pretty much work hard, play hard kind of truck. I'm sure the lowered EGT, less air flow restriction, more durable, and so on will benefit me all around. I want to ask y'all's input on this before I drop the coin on this. Thank guys.

Driver side tail light and license plate light

I have a 05 dodge and this morning I noticed that one license plate light was flickering. So me beinging me started messing with it and noticed that the bulb is kinda loose so I pulled it out and used my knife to see if I could push the prongs closer so it would be tight. Well in this process i hit something in there and the driver side tail running light shut off and the other license plate light shut off. Ok so I checked the fuse box and there was one that blew. It was a 20 amp fuse and I put a new one in but still no light. The stop light and blinker works and the passager side tail light everything works. Anyone have a idea???????




HVAC problems 06 dodge

I have 06 dodge 2500. when I cut the air on hot or cold it is like the fan is running full speed but there is very little air flow no matter what setting I have it on. Threw this past winter I noticed that when I cut the air off you could fill some really cold air coming in from under the passenger dashboard. I was trying to find is someone had a similar problem. That way I some sort of starting point I don't want to tear my dash apart and not know what I am looking for.

Injectors

Anybody running contagious diesel injectors? If so, how big? And how much air are you pushing?




Surge and lopey idle

My brother in laws truck is surging at cruining speeds and light throttle. It also hiccups sometimes under full throttle. It does this after it has been drove for a little ways and it good and warm. When you stop the truck has a noticeable lope at idle also. The truck is an early 04 with 125hp II full injectors, ats dual cp3s, smarty tntr, twins, ad 150. Those are the basic mods. The injectors along with, rail pressure sensor, prv, cross over tubes have been changed with no success. His rail pressure and rpms stay constant. We did change the top fca a while back cause it went out and it had max rail pressure at idle. His low side fuel pressure is reading around 25psi could that be the problem? It was always around 15, then it randomly starting to increase over time up to 30. So we changed the filters and it lowered it to 25 and it is constant there. The ball and spring have been changed in the air dog to lower pressure with no change. I am going to try my gauge to see if his is messed up. Does anybody have any ideas? He is too the point where he is just going to sell it cause it's driving him crazy.

CR core injectors

I have a set of core injectors. They are 03-04. Asking 450 shipped. .




AirDog ll 4G installed today

First...yes it's mounted backwards. If it was flipped around I lost easy access to the pressure port and the hoses were trying to kink because of the tight bends. I hate a ton of extra hose on these installs so I flipped it for the cleanest hose routing I could come up with.

Stripped coolant plug

I was in the process of installing a new twin kit on my 98 12v and I have run into a problem. I stripped the coolant plug behind the altenator that has a recessed Allen head 3/8".

06 Laramie auto charcoal ccsb 4x4

Truck needs some work. I'm am sick and tired of messing with it. Clutches in trans are smoked. Was trying to load it on gooseneck. Ramp came up and hit bottom of driver bedside. Lost my patience with it. Truck has lots great parts ii 185 injectors. 2 month old steed speed. 467.7 fmw. Other parts aswell. 140k miles. 15k no tire kickers can txt pics.




Does Dodge derate the Cummins?

So I have a 2004... or so I thought.

Dodge revealed that the VIN says the engine was rated at 305 hp @ 2900 rpm.

The VIN reads that it was manufactured 06/04

I have the he351 and it had the pump in the tank before I installed the AirDog.

I figured the turbo was just upgraded.

BUT Cummins says the engine left their company rated at 325 hp in June of 2004.



Do I have a weird hybrid or is Dodge's information all twisted?

97 dodge 3500 frame (I was told) ex cab long bed, pretty clean not rusted out, includes a Dana 80 drum brake srw still attached 4:10. Doesn't have the Dana 60 I'm keeping it for parts as of now, the truck was taken apart due to hitting a guardrail, the only frame damage I can see is where from some attaching a chain to the frame up front.
