hi all,been a while since my last post. I just bought a 06 dually with a bad engine,and a buddy has a 6.7 with 100k on it. so I'm planning on a swap with 5.9 injectors(custom nozzles) in the area of 90hp. modded cp3, and towing twins with the stocker,or a silver 62 single. are twins quieter? I have a s475 from my old pullin rig. with a twins setup would I even see a benefit to the 6.7 over the 5.9? thanks for any input.

Lookin to trade my super b special with 4500 miles on it for a dual disc nv4500 with the 1 3/8" shaft size. preferably a pulling clutch with a 3600# plate load.

Ok.. Looks like im going to have a sit down meeting with LSM engineering this week on my project. Just looking for some final thoughts from some of you guys. Bore size will be 4.125" using early 03/04 bowl design. Diamond billet pistons/pins, coated the works. LSM will take care of the 4 bolt mains using their hardware. Possibly using there hardwear for the 14mm head studs or using a set from Haisley. Fire ringed block/head obviously. LSM said they will do a billet cam whatever profile i want. They also want to do a roller lifter.

Im just kind of torn on wether or not i should use a 6.7 crank or just stick to a 5.9 that i already have. Probably using R&R rods over my current Carrillo set.

Any thoughts from you guys is appreciated. Remeber this is being built for a drag truck.

I made the 3 hour drive to Oroville, CA for Miller Performance Diesel's Fall Dyno Day. Most trucks seemed to be down about 10% from what they've put down on other dynos, as load was limited to 25%. Numbers were uncorrected as far as I could tell. Corrected numbers would have been higher as atmospheric pressure was a bit lower than standard.

This is the truck I would have liked a ride in. It made 513 hp. This truck was first up on the dyno, and I'm not sure if all of the kinks were worked out with setting the load yet.

This was a clean 7.3. 545 hp, with a super flat "curve" or lack thereof.

4th place. This guy built his own stainless twin setup, and has made a lot of progress with tuning since the last dyno day. 799 hp

Silver bullet's silver quad cab put down 847 hp on a single 2.6 charger, fuel only.

David H. Clean quad cab, that ran a 10.9 at 125 earlier in the week. 867 hp was good enough for 2nd place. Single charger, fuel only.

1st place went to Nick Z. 996 hp. Single, fuel only.

While not new to diesels, I have not been around the 6.0 much. A friend's truck has this problem and he wants me to fix it. Ford dealer wants $7000 to install two new heads. I came across and ordered the Bulletproof Diesel repair kit to fix the cracks in the injector bores. I am thinking he may sell this truck in the near future. Other that fixing the injector bores, is there anything else that needs to be addressed on this stock engine? I know it is recommended that coolant hoses be replaced because of diesel fuel contamination. What about front cover and intake o-rings? He wants to fix things right but doesn't want me to do anything that's not necessary. Thanks.

hey guys, I recently bought a quadzilla adrenaline with the pulse monitor to try on my truck. all ive ever used was edge tuning so I know nothing about quadzillas. The guy I bought it from said the box needs to be reflashed. The monitor in the cab wont turn on or do anything. I checked every wire and connection and they are all where they should be. Can anybody point me in the right direction to possibly get the box reflashed? Ive heard there is a guy you can send them to to get reflashed since quadzilla shut down? If somebody could point me in the right direction or help me out, I would really appreciate it. thanks

ok guys ive got a question, I may just be completely stupid and missing something. But I have a e.d built billet s472, and was told it was 72/96/1.10 but I recently pulled the exhaust housing off just to inspect it and make sure all was good. I put a pair of calipers on the exhaust wheel and it says its a 75x84mm exhaust wheel? And ive never heard of a exhaust wheel of that size. Is this a normal size? Or am I stupid or what? Thanks

Last winter had oil leaking out exhaust, found my pcv reroute hose was full of ice, fixed that and it would still drip, took the twin turbo out and found the 2 seals on the turbine side of the shaft the open ends of the seals were in line, cleaned it and turned the seals so the ends were not lined up, worked fine the rest of the winter. now this winter started it when it was about 10 deg outside and drove easy for a short trip then notice oil leaking ever since. Any ideas would be great. Send both turbos in to be rebuilt? Not sure why it happened again.

I have an 07 and I'm used to those mirrors. I absolutely hate the mirrors on my new truck. Is there any way to put the older mirror in the new housing? Or any other suggestions. Otherwise I love the truck, I will have to get used to the new bedsides, but it rides and drives great. I installed a western wide out a spreader, weather tech mats, vent shades a leveling kit and a stryker. I picked up 3mpg with the stryker, or so it says on my dash.

i just installed a airdog2 165 and a sump pick up and i adjusted the f/p to around 45psi maintainend around 40 for about 30mins and now the gauge doesnt even git above 30psi on start up then drops fast to 0 but starts up fine.the truck been setting for a a couple years and i had a raptor 150 and the gauge stay at 45psi at idle with no issue .the gauge is a autometer digital display .could the lift pump took a **** that fast ? or the sender for the gauge? and i also have a tork tool ofv which has been in the truck with the old lift pump

Well I have a 2001 2nd gen that came with a V10 and 47re but it doesn't feel right so I would like to swap in my '97 12V P-pump 215hp Cummins. After researching a whole bunch here and other sites and cutting through all the BS (and no you do not need the balance weights in the tail shaft if you have a 47re, that's 47rh only), I have gathered most of the parts needed to make for a nice swap. There are two places I am getting stuck, the flexplate and the kickdown linkage/ TV cable, and I thought I would ask here so as not to get a bunch of verbal diarrhea that I usually get on other forums.

First the deatils, the 12V Cummins is 215 hp P-pump coming from a '97 donor that is a NV4500 and I am swapping into a 2001 with a 47re I have (as I am not not ambitious enough to swap in the nv4500 too). I am not wanting to crazy with the engine as I only plan on #10 plate with requisite 3k/4K GSK, AFC springs, 60 lb Valve springs and 4" exhaust. I figure that should be around 300 hp and around 750 lb ft.

To make the 47re survive as it only has about 20K miles on a complete rebuild, I bought a Garmon Billet Single disk low stall TC and Transgo shift kit along with some minor upgrades such as the 2nd gear servo and the 4.2 lever/strut/billet anchor combo. No real plans on the billet Input shaft as I am only real abuse is towing (probably around 12K lbs) but no boosted launches or stuff. Any suggestions on 47re would be welcome,but what I am stuck on is which flex plate to use?

Originally, I was thinking a new 3rd gen flex plate, but I am open to suggestions as I tore apart a 1st gen pie plate/flex plate in a stock application once upon a time and don't want to deal with that again.

Second issue, Since the 12v came form a 5 spd truck, I have no idea how kick down linkage/TV cable would be set up as I am not sure how the bracket would even look like. I can't even find a parts breakdown to give me an idea as I am sure there would be a TPS somewhere in there too. Any body have any pictures or parts break down to share?

hey guys I have a 06 with some starting problems after sitting over night or the engine is cool. it's throwing a po341 camshaft position sensor code. I've checked both sensors and replaced them an nothing changed. it takes it a few more cranks to start and smokes alittle white at idle for 10-15 seconds. no blow by on engine. just curious what your imputs were, thanks.

Customer brought in a truck not running. Locked his keys in the truck the week before had to break in and set off the alarm but Didnt have a key fob. Somehow he ended up getting it off, tried to fire the truck and nothing. He took it to the dodge dealer and they installed a new module and made him a key fob, they then tried to fire the truck with no start and claimed a bad vp(no codes). Which is how I recieved it. Installed a new vp and still no start. Looked at everything else to rule out fuel pressure issues. My guess is the computer is still no letting the vp fire like it should. So how can I disarm or completely bypass the security system?

ok, so long story short just put motor back to gether in truck which is in a 01 superduty, short block out of 97, anyways I wasted the timing cover by putting center part of oil pump in backwards and crank balanced rubbed it into front cover real bad (didn't have dampner printed on this one and I didn't pay attention!) so I find a new timing cover, oil pump, supposedly out of a 02 e350 van, get it all back together and oil is pouring out just under reservoir cover near the thermostat, so pull lid off and is cracked on timing cover, so I am going to attempt to clean it up dremel it out and putty it up first. but my question is am I using the correct reservoir seal? I bought one with the screen in it for super duty but the part number on timing cover is 1823536c1 and the part number on the lid I used is 1831022c97 which was originally out of the 01 truck but looked at the lid off of timing cover donor motor and it was a different number 1831022c96 and had a seal without a screen which I have heard if you use the wrong seal it can crack or possibly overtightening so in the future to avoid cracking is it possible someone could look up and tell me with the part numbers I have should I use the seal with or without a screen? did not pay attention wether it was crack or not before I put it on and didn't know previous history.

OK in a bit of a bind trying to get my uncles truck up and moving again. He's got a DHD with the one piece tail housing and it's junk. Ive got a DHD but it's a 2 piece tail housing so smaller out put. Does anyone know if they are interchangeable if I just swap slip yokes or are they different lengths all together or something?

We got the fummins running today. 12 valve with 47re. On the dash readout it throws a check transmission temperature text. I want to get rid of this without having to steadily clear it. What wires on the transmission harness goes to this and how big of a resistor will it take to fool it? Also is there anyway I can make it work with a temp sensor in the PCS or put an aftermarket sensor in it? We cant drive it yet since the driveshafts aren't done yet. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

i think there is a problem with my ignition or maybe my ignition is offset. i went to my truck one night and was wondering why my dome light did not turn on when i opened the door. even when i turned the switch to door it still didnt turn on. finally i turned the ignition on and it was on, but as soon as i turned the ignition off it didnt work. also my radion returns to factory settings like the stations i set go back to its original stations. i also plugged my programmer in it. it is a hypertech 3 power programmer and it goes through the instructions finally after everything is done itll tell you to turn the ignition off then back on but when i turn my ignition off it goes blank and when i turn it back on it starts over again. it has never done this before, idk if anyone has ever had this happen to them or not but i could use some advice.

Looking for insights on which auto to go to.I'd like to swap over..I have a 4x4 48re and 47re in my garage I could combine to make a good trans but not real sure I wanna swap inputs and modify everything (harnesses,shift cables etc) to run a dodge trans.I've also been talking to a few guys who seem to really like the 5r using factory com o run 4r is also a good option but I've never used a pcs.an allison would be my ideal swap but doubt I could afford it..

When I pulled my head this morning for a headgasket issue I noticed where some of the intake valves had slightly hit the pistons... I checked the clearance after I put in the 188/220 and I was coming up with roughly .070 of clearance on each intake measurement... Where could I have gone wrong and how could this be? I measured at three points before and after TDC by running the valve down till it hit the piston with a dial indicator on the rocker...

I'm putting in a new dash and have this molded plastic dash cover for sale. It's in pretty good shape. I painted it tan to match interior, but it turned out a little too light. Could use some touch up paint in some areas.

Anyone done a hone or bore on a block, compared to a similar setup but with a torque plate on the block for the hone or bore operation.. and have a comparison for compression, blowby or lack of wear on certain areas of the cyinders that might indicate theres enough distortion to lose some compression?

trying to make sense of an otherwise healthy motor thats showing a fair bit of blowby without a lot of abuse.

Dunno if distortion is an issue with 12mm studs as well as 14mm or not? running the unobtanium 625s on there since I had plans for more air and fuel in the future.

Ok, I've been trying to diagnose off and on for nearly a year now why my manual-to-auto swapped 03 does not have cruise control (manual VB , no PCM ). I've read the speed control section of the 03 FSM, but have basically only learned that:

- diesel equipped with manual trans has an all-electronic cruise control via ECM

- diesel equipped with auto trans has the vacuum pump, servo, solenoid, etc. system controlled by the PCM .

It appears to me, then, that if I have a modified ECM file from Smarty that makes my truck 'think' its an auto, there is no way the cruise will operate since the ECM would be looking for a nonexistent PCM to control the vacuum servo. Is this correct? Or is there some knowledge from Smarty that I am missing?

Aside from my confusion above, what I've done so far to diagnose not having cruise:

- the cruise light illuminates on the gauge cluster when I hit the switch.

- verified that the brake light switch is good.

- confirmed VIN# on Smarty matches truck VIN.

I have a brand new Hx52w that I traded for and would like to trade for something better suited for my needs. Its a wastegated hx52w (yes they make them) its for a Renault truck, specs are 64/70/16cm exhaust housing. It is brand new with 0 miles. I thought it might work in the factory 3rd gen dodge location but its physically too big. I need a s362, s363, s464, silver bullet etc. Could prob make this thing work but I will try to trade for a physically smaller turbo if possible. This thing is prob capable of making plenty of power and the best part is its wastegated. Let me know if youre interested, pm me for pics, and leave me youre phone number, and let me know what you have. I may sell it straight out so make an offer that makes sense.

Has anyone been able to make an NV4500 live on the drag strip? Can they be modified for power shifting? Or, is a Lenco or Liberty a better bet for the stick shift drag racing?

I know everyone uses switches for lock up and OD. I'm wanting something I can just put in drive and haul azz. Seems fairly reasonable.

One thing it looks like it uses a cable drive for the speedo wich would not work on a 4wd. Might give them a call and see what they can do there.

I am about to order the transmission for my OBS Ford Cummins and am really torn between which transmission to stick under it. I've driven an NV4500 for quite a while and never had any issues with it, other than the terrible 3rd to 4th drop especially when towing.

I've been looking around to see how the G56 handles power and am seeing mixed reviews. Mind you this engine is a 93 12v carrying a 351 over s472, 68lpm injectors and ported/polished head. Nothing crazy but it's not stock either... I'd like to find a lightly used G56 and run it, something about an extra gear seems like it could be beneficial.

For what it's worth I drive like a grandpa, and only ever give it pedal in 3rd or 4th when speaking of the 4500. No racing or sled pulling, I put too much work into this truck to go and break it.

Appreciate the input or even a hard kick over to a thread I may have missed.

Hey, I thought I'd throw this out there in case someone would be interested. I would like to make some changes to the chassis this winter and the more I think on it, I might be better off just to start from scratch again. I've always wanted to try my hand at the full tube chassis thing and with the switch to the BMW engine, I'll need all the weight savings I can get. I would certainly demand a change in paint and name of the truck stays with me. Also, getting me a line on another ram50 could help you out considerably. I also think this gives Craig and I an opportunity to get someone else in the mix for the dirt drags that seem to be growing at the diesel events.

This truck is unique in that you can mud race, dirt drag, drive to town, drag race, or let it set in the garage. lol

More than likely, the tires and wheels will stay with me. They are very expensive and if I let any of them go, you would have to give me enough out of them that I could replace them with new. Therefore, you may as well buy your own.

If interested, let me know and we can work on some pricing. The way it sets now with your tires and wheels, we basically pulled the engine and tranny out and it has no center section in the rear, I'd have to get somewhere around $20k.

Anyone got a nice sct tune they like in their conversion running a 12v in front of a 5r110? Been working with a local tuner and we're having a difficult time dialing in the medium throttle shifts.

So let's say your rebuilding a engine. Could be 12, 24, CR or 6.7 doesn't matter. Lets say it melted a piston and messed up the hole. What would you be more inclined to do. Bore it .020 over or put a sleeve in and keep it std bore? To ad to the question would you buy a over hauled engine/short block knowing it was bored or sleeved and if you would which one or both and if you wouldnt why. I've done both and really have no preference. Just want some others opinions.

I have a 2008 6.7 6spd Dodge Diesel. Truck has PW,PL, Aurora 4000 turbo, 2nd gen PDI Manifold, Hogan Intercooler, Valair Dual Disc, Smarty, A1 H-11 head studs, Airdog 150 and dual electric fans . I had oil pump issues with the truck bought a 6.7 short block went trough it new rings bearings, oil pump, oil cooler, water pump. Head was gone through by C and P machine. Everything listed about has 30k on it. The front Axle has been rebuilt the rear end will be finish as soon as I get a pinion seal 3.55 gears. Tires are Good year fierce 70 percent tread. Roll pan on the back and I did build the hitch it's been moved up 6in and in 8 in B and W turn over ball. It s set up to pull a 40ft gooseneck and it does it well. There is more than this on the truck but this is the large stuff. Truck had/has MINOR issues when I bought it. Small oil leaks, no speakers, clamps here and there. MINOR. Truck leaves 1 small drop when its parked. 99.9% sure its the oil drain gasket. Truck is currently tuned by Lavon at Firepunk Diesel. I had it at the track and it ran a 11.0 at 125 with next to no traction. On the street it breaks the tires loose at almost any speed. Almost scary. I just bought this truck. But I bite off more then I can chew at the moment. Just cant handle 2 projects. Im not hiding anything here. I paid 23,000 for the truck. I have 1,000 in going to get it. I could part it to stock and make a good profit. Or part to stock and make it a nice daily driver. But I would like to see it go to a good home. I have 24,000 in it as it sits in my driveway. Make me an offer to make me not part it.
