Coolant issues
I was driving and randomly lost heat today so I pulled over and realized my upper rad hose had a pin hole in it leaking, luckily I had a spare in my toolbox, now I can't seem to get the truck to burp still
No heat at all and it wants to run very hot it will pin all the way hot if I let it, I have tried letting it idle with the cap off and I cracked the heater core hoses and bled them, still no progress and advice will be very appreciated!

12 valve fuel issue?
Hey working on a buddies 12valve and need some opinions. Is a 97 auto, with stock turbo and boost elbow, has 60lb springs and 4gsk are only mods. It sounds to me like has air in the fuel or a fuel problem of some sort. It doesn't have a miss per say because motor doesn't shake like if you cracked a fuel line but motor sounds almost like its getting air in fuel??? Have a banjo fuel snunber on the way to check fuel pressure but wondering if it sounds like a fuel issue like(overflow valve,fuel heater air leak, injection pump). It has a new lift pump, and there is no visible fuel leaks but It can suck air without leaking fuel right? Lastly, it starts just fine and runs alright but just doesn't sound right to me and he also pulled the fuel plate and it will build about 35psi boost but will not smoke at all even if it's lugged down???? That's mainly why I think it has a fuel problem ... Please help if you have any ideas but I know can't do much till I get some fuel pressure #s. Thanks

Air intake horn bolt size
Looking to see if anyone has the correct bolt size for all 5 bolts that hold the stock air intake horn down (4 on grid heater, 2 long, 2 short and 1 on intake plenum plate) Motor is a 98 12 valve. I believe they are 8mm but cant find the correct length and pitch as i don't have one to compare to and the search function turned up nothing.

Vp injector questions
So I have been out of the diesel game for a while now. I ended up putting a vp back on my truck. Im looking for a injector that runs clean but makes good power. I'd like 100-150hp injectors. Running a comp box, 64/71 and a diesel pros drop in cam. I know from past experience I don't like Vco injectors. So what the injector choice these days for a vp truck. I'll be towing but nothing to heavy. I do daily drive the truck still. Biggest thing is I want good clean power.

Thoughts on h-11 12mm main stud.
I was originally planning on a girdle, but after more reading and talking I'm not so sure it's worth the effort or money. I'd still like to add a bit more fastener since I'm keeping it 12mm but swinging heavy pistons. Are the h-11 what I'm looking for, is there a better option, or just stick with regular old arp's?
1992 mitsubishi fuso cab over
1992 mitsubishi fuso box truck. Has a 16ft box I believe with a roll up door. Lift gate on the bed also. Has a 5.9 liter mitsubishi turbo diesel engine and 5 speed manual transmission. Has roughly 250k miles on it, but only 20k on a complete engine overhaul. I have all of the service records on this truck since it was overhauled. Also only 20k miles on a new clutch and master cylinder. The only bad is the driver window is busted and 3rd gear synchros are going out, still goes in gear just grinds some. And it's ugly orange. 04 lost rear freeze plug
I lost my rear freeze plug in my 04 and I had no choice but to drive the truck home for 45 minutes in the middle of the night because I had no cell service wasn't sure what the problem was at the time. The coolant temp didn't get above 220 but don't know how accurate that was because of the loss of coolant. My question is do I throw a freeze plug in it and run it or should I consider tearing into the engine. What are some things that could be damaged internally I should be worried about????
Cruise control indicator light
So my cruise works just fine on my 99 ppumped truck but the dash light does not come on. Where the hell do I need to look to fix that? Already replaced the bulb and that didn't fix it. Not sure where to look next

sending the head to Mtn High to have them do bigger valves, machine intake off for hellman side draft and port job

Now for the internals:
Mahle Monotherms
Hamilton Cam
Either peened lightened and balanced 12 valve rods or Billet
My question is as far as the build goes is should I go with
deckplate and sleeves or just slight overbore?
Cylinders look to be in pretty good shape except 6 has a bit of ring gouging from the top ring being broke.
Also would it be better to run billet rods with qsb480s vs the monotherms or just shell out the money to be safe?
Truck is mainly going to be drag but will see some street use so filling the block is not really an option.

No Upshift - 47rh, after lots of mods
Okay, so I have now learned my lesson on doing too many mods at once. After doing a lot of mods (listed below), my transmission will no longer shift out of first gear. Reverse works fine and my pressure test came out normal. I was on the phone with transgo all day and we still can't figure it out. Any suggestions?
Mods:

Accum Front Rear OD Gov
Park 0 0 0 0 0

NV4500 rebuild, which syncros to choose
First off let me give you some back ground on the truck, it's an 01 QCSB 4x4 134,000 ish miles, has some injectors, tst comp, he351, supporting mods, southbend street dual disk, southbend hydros, etc....
Ever since we had the trans built by a company here local its never really shifted right. All the gates were super tight even when the truck had the stock single disk. So I'm going to dive into this time.
Now that it's had the dual disk plus a ton of "spirited" driving the syncro for 4th gear is gone again.
I've been looking at the rebuild kits from standard trans. and noticed I could get the stock style carbon fiber/Kevlar syncros, or get the brass units.
Is there any advantage to going full brass? Will it shift slower/faster? Also is there anything I can do to help these syncros live longer? The trans does have the full splined mainshaft with the upgraded 5th gear nut already.
Any input is welcome

Getting a bind on a 3-2 downshift... I doesn't seem to do it if I let off the throttle and ease back into but if I'm on the throttle in drive and pull it down to manual 2nd I get what feels like a bind.. Does this have to do with band adj. or something else. Please help!!!

I have a 03 CR that had a 47re in it and did a swap to a nv4500. Anyway I'm trying to figure out how to make the safty natural switch work to get it started.. everyone talks about a 3 pin plug but theres not one and only 2 plugs under the dash for the OD shut off 2 pin and the shift cable plug 2 pin..., I have a 6 pin plug, the round 8 pin plug, 2 pin plug, and another 2 pin plug for the tcase under the truck any help that would be greatly appreciated.

Ok I first thought my truck (12v in a excursion) was gelling on me its 9 degrees out here. Was able to limp it home the 30 miles.
Once I got home I hooked a fuel pressure gauge up to it and it had 10psi and would drop any time I gave it gas.
Drained and replace the fuel filter(fuel looked fine when I drained it) had a heck of a time getting the fuel filter to prime. Once primed and the truck running it would hold 15psi put would drop when ever the gas was giving.
I have a tork tek and when it warm out it would hold 30-35 psi just fine.
I have a 3/8 draw tube going to 2ft of 3/8 rubber line coming out of the tank, then running up front with 3/8 SS hard line then about another 2ft of 3/8 rubber line feeding the mechincal lift pump.
So what do you think is my lift pump getting warn out not want to suck the cold thick diesel?

97 Dually Restoration
Hey just throwing some pics of my build on here hoping to entertain and inspire fellow diesel owners to transform their rigs. I've had this truck for over a year now. I bought it off a guy from New Jersey who bought it off a guy from Virginia. The truck was full of hackjob gadgets and wiring that I tore out. When I bought the truck it had bad ball joints, overdrive was sketchy, really bad rust, molded carpet, terrible paint, just an all around used up truck. I have since put some serious TLC into it and its really coming along good. I use it as a daily driver and I havent had any issues with it.
The truck started life as a tree trimming truck. I bought it and have since removed the utility body. I painted the rear frame in por15, installed new tank straps, new brake lines and fuel lines, sound deadened the interior, and patched some rust in the floors. Also put some Bilstein shocks under it.
The sound deadener I got off ebay is called fatmat. It seems alot like aluminum foil with tar on one side that you stick inside the cab. It definitely helped to kill the noise in the cab. The stereo comes in much clearer. Getting the utility bed off wasnt to bad. I sold it to a guy on craigslist for 1500 dollars and bought a red dually bed off craigslist for 600. The dually bed turned out to have all kinds of stress cracks in the steel that I later welded up. The floors were a big surprise to me when I tore the carpet out. Something to keep in mind if your shopping for a used truck, the bottom of the truck may not look rusty but if the carpet is moldy you can bet that the floors are rotting from the inside. I found a major leak in the sliding rear window that I used RTV to fill in. This leak allowed massive amounts of rain to collect inside the cab rotting the floors. I replaced the worst parts of the floor with new sheetmetal and POR15d the entire interior pan.

I decided to polish my valve covers. Started the injector lines and intake plate. I removed the intake heater and welded the holes up also.

Got the GSK's done and pressure washed the bay. Also found some rusted out coolant lines.

also replaced the ball and socket joints on the throttle linkage.

Racetruck 2.0
I finally got my dakota out of the barn. It's been sitting and collecting dust for the last 2 yrs. I was going to build another truck but this is the one that it started it all for me. So here we are. Hopefully be making some passes this coming yr. Not sure what class I'll run it. Maybe by next year I'll be fast enough and legal to run in Pro Street.
Best time I ran with is before I parked it was 7.17 in the 1/8th with a single disc converter.
Not had much time to work on until this past 2 weeks.
The truck is getting converted to a 4x4, using a Dana 60 going to get it narrowed. 4 Link front and back.
What the truck looked like before I parked it.
I moved the motor back another 4" than it was before. You can also see where I had to modify the front rails to get all the 2wd components out of the way
The truck will not sit as low as before with the addition of the front axle.
Here is the old back 1/2 rails I built, that I had NO idea what I was doing. The frame is raised in this picture, 4 link geometry was not out of wack that bad.

I've been working on the back 1/2 and working on the cage trying to get the chassis finished.

Best time I ran with is before I parked it was 7.17 in the 1/8th with a single disc converter.
Not had much time to work on until this past 2 weeks.
The truck is getting converted to a 4x4, using a Dana 60 going to get it narrowed. 4 Link front and back.

I moved the motor back another 4" than it was before. You can also see where I had to modify the front rails to get all the 2wd components out of the way
The truck will not sit as low as before with the addition of the front axle.
Here is the old back 1/2 rails I built, that I had NO idea what I was doing. The frame is raised in this picture, 4 link geometry was not out of wack that bad.

Back half necessary?
I just picked up a 1998 rcsb 1500 2wd that I'm going to be dropping my p-pump 24v in. Will see some street miles, but mostly track. I plan on going with a 4 link rear, double adjustable qa1s, narrowrd 9inch etc... Where my big question lies is is it necessary to back half. I pulled a measurment from the outer edge of the tire to frame rail and got 18 inches. So with cutting the wheel wells out and putting bigger tubs in, is there something I'm missing as to why people still go and back half these trucks?

My fueling set up is: a new s.o. Vp, edge juice with attitude thats hot unlocked, 6x.013 injectors, .093 cross over tubes. My 60mm hx35 begs for murcey every time i get above hafe throttle and my egts wont let me stay at 1/2 throttle very long either. So its time for an upgrade, can i get some suggestions with some priceing to go with it? Im looking to spend about between $1000 and $1300. I just want something box stock, no billet wheel or anything like that. Thanks in advance.
